The Lords of Salem 2013 Movie Storyline/Plot

The Lords of Salem is a 2012 independent horror film written, produced and directed by Rob Zombie, and starring Sheri Moon Zombie, Bruce Davison, Judy Geeson, Patricia Quinn, Dee Wallace, Maria Conchita Alonso, Jeff Daniel Phillips, and Meg Foster. The plot focuses on a troubled female disc jockey in Salem, Massachusetts, whose life becomes entangled with a coven of ancient witches. The film also includes brief cameos by horror icons Michael Berryman and Sid Haig. The film started shooting on October 17, 2011 and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2012. Rob Zombie’s novelization of The Lords of Salem was released on March 12, 2013 and the film was given a limited release on April 19, 2013.[4][5] The film received mixed reception. In Salem, Massachusetts, Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a recovering drug addict, works as a DJ at a hard rock station with her co-workers Whitey (Jeff Daniel Phillips) and Herman (Ken Foree). She receives a strange wooden box containing an album by a band named the Lords of Salem. At her home, she and Whitey listen to the record which is of a woman’s voice reciting a mysterious chant. Heidi has a vision of witches birthing a baby then damning it. The vision stops once Whitey turns the album off. The next day, Heidi interviews Francis Matthias (Bruce Davison), who has written a book about the Salem witch trials. The station then plays the Lords of Salem record, which causes all of the women in Salem (other than Heidi) to enter a trance. After the show is over, Matthias tells his wife (Maria Conchita Alonso) that the band’s name, The Lords of Salem, bothers him. That night, Heidi’s landlord, Lacy (Judy Geeson) insists that Heidi split a bottle of wine with her and her sisters, Sonny (Dee Wallace) and Megan (Patricia Quinn). Megan, a palm reader, tells Heidi that she is fated to succumb to her dark sexual desires: “the only reason you exist.” Disturbed, Heidi leaves the party. Later, Heidi notices her dog is acting strangely. She enters the supposedly vacant Apartment 5 and experience visions of a demon and a nude witch that demands that she “bleed us a king”. Heidi wakes up in bed and assumes the events in Apartment 5 were a vivid nightmare. Troubled, Heidi visits a graveyard church and falls asleep due to the peaceful environment, dreaming that she is sexually assaulted by an archbishop. Heidi flees the church but is faced with a ghostly entity who tells her that he has been waiting for her. Meanwhile Matthias researches the Lords of Salem. He discovers some music in a book he is reading and, after asking his wife to play the notes on their piano, realizes that it is the same music heard on the record. Matthias tracks down the author, who tells him that in the seventeenth century one Reverend Hawthorne (Andrew Prine) accused a coven of witches of creating the music to control the women of Salem. As a result Hawthorne killed the witches, but not before one of them, Margaret Morgan (Meg Foster)—the witch Heidi encountered outside Apartment 5—cursed both the Salem women and Hawthorne’s descendants, calling his bloodline “the vessel by which the devil’s child would inherit the earth.” Further research demonstrates that Heidi is a descendant of Reverend Hawthorne. Home Run is a 2013 sports drama film directed by David Boyd and stars Scott Elrod, Dorian Brown, Vivica A. Fox. the film was released in theaters on April 19, 2013.[1] Pro baseball player Cory Brand is forced into a rehabilitation program in his Oklahoma hometown after several alcohol-related incidents. He is responsible for injuring his brother in an alcohol-related crash. Cory reluctantly enters a Celebrate Recovery. He eventually finds new hope when he gets honest about his checkered past, and takes on coaching duties for a Little League team. Cory reunites with his high school girlfriend, starts a relationship with his son and rebuilds his relationship with his family. The film had a limited release on April 19, 2013 in the United States and has grossed over $2,861,020. The film was endorsed by numerous current and former baseball players, including Mariano Rivera, Adam LaRoche, Andy Pettitte, Craig Stammen, Ben Zobrist, R.A. Dickey, Barry Lyons, Bill Buckner, Tim Salmon, Dwight Evans, Jim Sundberg, Brett Butler, and Jose Alvarez, among other sports figures. The film has received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics. While critics differed on the film’s message, most praised the quality of the filmmaking. Sean O’Connell of The Washington Post gave the film a positive, three stars out of four review, saying, “Boyd uses upbeat musical cues and sun-dappled cinematography to manifest an authentic small-town, minor-league atmosphere that’s warm and welcoming, even as it addresses potentially devastating personal problems. There are religious undertones to “Home Run” as Brand labors through his rehabilitation, but Boyd doesn’t succumb to the pressure of clubbing his audience over the head with a metaphorical Louisville Slugger. The director trusts his cast to convey the message. They rise to the occasion. … Those seeking riveting baseball sequences might leave frustrated…The strongest scenes take place in dingy hotel rooms, on a deserted farm or in the rehab sessions where Brand and his fellow addicts open their hearts in search of forgiveness. It’s during these moments that ‘Home Run’ swings for the fences, and often connects.” Betsy Sharkey of the Los Angeles Times was less positive, saying, “Almost from the beginning the message overwhelms the medium,” and that the message was “overplayed”. Java Heat 2013 Movie Storyline/Plot

Java Heat is an American action film. Directed by Conor Allyn, the film stars Kellan Lutz, Mickey Rourke, Ario Bayu and Atiqah Hasiholan. A suicide bombing has occurred at a party in Java, Indonesia, and a Javanese Sultan’s daughter, Sultana (Atiqah Hasiholan), is suspected to be one of the unidentified victims. Jake Travers (Kellan Lutz), a reckless American posing as a graduate student, is found at the scene of the blast and is held as a key witness by a police detective of Detachment 88, lieutenant Hashim (Ario Bayu). After interviewing a Jake at the bombing site, Hasim’s car was rammed by an SUV and shot at by a group of terrorist led by Malik (Mike Muliadro) and his henchman Achmed. Jake saved Hashim live’s and killed two terrorists but not Achmed. Hashim was surprised and became suspicious when he watched Jake’s shooting skill. On Hasim’s wife insistence Jake was invited to their house for breakfast. At the house Hashim revealed that he checked Jake’s background. Jake admit that he is an FBI agent operating undercover and suggested they cooperate. Returning to his apartment Jake faxed a picture of a tattoo taken from Sultana’s body to a friend stateside. His friend later informed him that this tattoo is used for Chinese high-class prostitutes and confirmed Hasim’s former suspicion that the body is not actually Sultana. Jake follows the lead to a night club where he takes home a prostitute with the same tattoo. When she starts cooperating, Jake’s place is suddenly attacked by several parties: the terrorist gang and a Chinese gang that runs the prostitution racket. Police, who were actually doing covert surveillance on Jake, were forced to interfere and suffered some casualties. Jake successfully escaped but was hunted down by the police and finally captured near a railway station. The police suffered additional casualties. Hashim arrives home to find out that his family had been kidnapped. Malik calls him on a cell phone left at the house and asks if he can count on Hashim for his family’s life. Scary Movie 5 (stylized as SCARY MOVIE) is a 2013 American comedy film and the fifth installment of the Scary Movie franchise. It was distributed by Dimension Films, a division of The Weinstein Company. The film is directed by Malcolm D. Lee and written by David Zucker.[3] It was released on April 12, 2013.[4] Scary Movie 5 is the first and only installment of the franchise not to feature Cindy Campbell (played by Anna Faris) or Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall). It premiered on April 11 at the Hollywood’s ArcLight Cinerama Dome.[5] The film parodies various horror films and other popular culture such as the novel Fifty Shades of Grey and Tyler Perry’s character Madea. Despite being panned by most critics, the film was commercially successful, making over $78 million against its budget of $20 million, even if this amount is the least successful of the Scary Movie franchise. Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan get together to make a sex tape with over 20 cameras beside Sheen’s bed. The time-lapsed tape fast forwards through the two doing all sorts of bedroom antics, including gymnastics, riding a horse, and having clowns jump in under the sheets. Sheen is pulled into the air by a paranormal force and thrown against walls, shelves, and doors until he lands on the bed again. Lohan is frightened so she decides to go home when she flies into the air as well; she becomes possessed and throws him into the camera and kills him. The text explains that Sheen’s body was found that day but he didn’t stop partying until days later, and that his three kids were found missing, Lohan was arrested, again, and a reward was put out for the missing children. Several months later, Ja’Marcus and D’Andre are walking in the Humboldt County woods in California in search of cannabis plants to steal. After stealing one and fleeing, they take shelter in a cabin in the woods. Upon entering they see three strange creatures, later confirmed to be Sheen’s children, and turn them in for the reward. The feral children are placed in isolation at a child development research center for a few months until they are deemed well enough to be returned to familial custody. When Sheen’s brother, Dan Sanders and his wife Jody come to collect them, they are told they can have them if they agree to stay in a large suburban middle-class home fitted with security cameras. Jody is reluctant to take the kids at first but soon adjusts to having them. In an attempt to bond with their new children, Jody auditions for a ballet performance, Swan Lake, and is cast in the lead role as the Swan Queen. Meanwhile, a continuing pattern of bizarre paranormal activity in their new home makes them investigate further. They eventually learn from the children that the attacks on their home are by “Mama”, the mother of the children, who is under a curse and is trying to get them back so she can sacrifice both herself and the children. Maria, the couple’s Hispanic live-in maid, is frightened and keeps experimenting with various rituals, Catholic and otherwise, to ward off the evil spirits in the house. During the day, Dan is frustrated with the modest progress of his test subjects at a primate intelligence research facility; ironically, Dan is not bright enough to realize that one of the chimpanzees, Caesar, is now actually much smarter than he is. It’s a Disaster is a 2012 art-house black comedy film written and directed by Todd Berger. The film was made by Los Angeles-based comedy group The Vacationeers and stars Rachel Boston, David Cross, America Ferrera, Jeff Grace, Erinn Hayes, Kevin M. Brennan, Blaise Miller, Julia Stiles, and Todd Berger.[2][3] The film premiered on June 20, 2012, at the Los Angeles Film Festival.[4] It’s a Disaster was commercially released in US theaters by Oscilloscope Laboratories, which acquired the US distribution rights to the film, on April 12, 2013. Four couples gather for a regular couples brunch which, over the years, has devolved into a gathering fraught with tension and awkwardness. One guest is meeting the others for the first time, on his third date with the host’s sister. As they settle into the afternoon (awaiting an “always late” fifth couple), they get to know the new member of the group, and catch up on old times. When the men excuse themselves to watch football, they discover the TV, Internet and landline phone are down. When the host accuses his wife of not paying the bills, their upcoming divorce is revealed to the guests. After a neighbor appears in a hazardous materials suit with news of dirty bombs exploding in major US cities, including one 12 miles downtown from them, the couples begin to accept that a disaster has occurred. They split up to search the house for emergency supplies and airseal it with duct tape. Throughout the hunt, revelations of affairs between both hosts and two guests are made, as are rejected sexual advances by the swinger couple toward the nervous newcomer, who is implied to be a 42-year-old virgin. Through a shower radio, they hear an automated public advisory that the bombs contained the VX nerve poison. The chemistry teacher in the group understands that because the attacks were chemical, and not radiological, only hours remain before a gruesome death for them all. After going into a trancelike shock, she breaks her silence by asking for Scotch. She later mixes up a batch of “hillibilly ecstasy” from what she raided from a medicine cabinet, has an epiphany and calls off her six-year engagement. Her spirits lifted, she champions a musical session/”dance party” in the living room. Her fiance is a comic book trader and bases his survival strategy on what he’s learned from zombie films like Night of the Living Dead. After hearing of the bombs, he becomes highly suspicious of outsiders (including the new guy) and suggests others watch for bite marks or odd behaviour, and they find weapons (like crowbars and chainsaws). He becomes concerned by the lack of life immediately outside the front window, so questions the doctor guest about quickly “mutation” should appear and spread. She explains how genetic mutation really works, with some disdain, but later agrees to not let the late fifth couple into the house when they finally arrive, the man clearly sick with something. While he seems more concerned by the woman’s vague and rushed description of the situation outside, her decision to leave them is also partly punishment for always being late and not caring. The film tells the story of Jackie Robinson and, under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey, Robinson’s signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers to become the first African-American player to break the baseball color barrier. The story focuses mostly on the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers season and somewhat on Robinson’s 1946 season with the Montreal Royals, which emphasize his battles with racism. In 1945, Jackie Robinson and his team, the Kansas City Monarchs, stop by a gas station. When the attendant refuses Robinson entry to the washroom, Robinson says they will find another station at which to fill up the team bus, and the attendant relents. As Robinson comes out, a scout for the Dodgers approaches him and sends him to Brooklyn. He is offered a $600/month contract and $3,500 signing bonus, which Robinson accepts after being warned he must control his temper if he wants to play. Robinson proposes to his girlfriend, Rachel, by phone and she accepts. During Dodgers spring training, Robinson makes it to the franchise farm team in Montreal. After a great season there and spring training in Panama, he advances to the Dodgers. Most of the team soon signs a petition stating they refuse to play with Robinson, but manager Leo Durocher insists Robinson will play with the main team. When Durocher is suspended (for actions in his personal life), leaving the Dodgers without a manager to start the regular season, Burt Shotton agrees to manage the team. In a game against the Philadelphia Phillies, manager Ben Chapman taunts Robinson, causing him to go back to the dugout and smash his bat to vent his anger. With encouragement from Rickey, Robinson then returns to the field and hits a single, steals second base and advances to third on a throwing error and scores the winning run. When Chapman’s behavior toward Robinson generates bad press for the team, the Phillies’ owner requires him to pose with Robinson for newspapers and magazine photos. Later, Robinson’s teammate, Pee Wee Reese, comes to understand the pressure Robinson is facing, and makes a public show of solidarity, standing with his arm around Robinson’s shoulders before a hostile crowd in Cincinnati. Robinson’s home run against Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Fritz Ostermueller, who had earlier hit him in the head, helps clinch the National League pennant for the Dodgers, sending them to the World Series, which they would lose to the New York Yankees. A concluding postscript describes how Rickey, Robinson, and many of his teammates went on to have distinguished careers, including inductions into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Pain & Gain (stylized as PAIN & GAIN) is a 2013 American crime-comedy film directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie. The film is loosely based on a story published in a 1999 series of Miami New Times articles written by Pete Collins and compiled in Collins’ 2013 book Pain & Gain: This is a True Story, which details the kidnapping, extortion, torture, and murder of several victims by an organized group of criminals that included a number of bodybuilders affiliated with Sun Gym.[3][4] The film’s title is a play on the common exercising adage of “No pain, no gain”. The film was released on April 26, 2013, to mixed reviews. Critics praised the acting, and script while criticizing the direction, the violence, the comic chemistry, and historical differences. Against a $26 million budget, the film grossed more than $86.1 million worldwide. In 1995, schemer Daniel Lugo (Mark Wahlberg) is a recently released convict who served time for Medicare fraud. Sun Gym owner John Mese (Rob Corddry) hires him to increase membership and make the gym more fitness based. Lugo triples the gym’s membership within six weeks and befriends trainer Adrian Doorbal (Anthony Mackie). Doorbal, a bodybuilder, uses steroids, which render him impotent. Lugo soon lusts after the earnings and lifestyle achieved by Victor Kershaw (Tony Shalhoub), a new gym member he begins to train who Lugo believes is a crook. Inspired by motivational speaker Johnny Wu (Ken Jeong), Lugo decides to be a “doer” and hatches a plan to extort Kershaw for his assets by kidnapping and torturing him. Lugo recruits accomplices Doorbal and Paul Doyle (Dwayne Johnson), a recently released cocaine-addicted convict who has turned to Christianity. Though Doyle is reluctant to join the team, he soon caves in after a violent altercation with his priest. This “Sun Gym gang” unsuccessfully attempts to kidnap Kershaw at home but incapacitates him with a taser outside his deli and takes him to a small warehouse he owns (which is stocked with sex toys). The kidnappers disguise their voices, but Kershaw identifies Lugo from his distinctive cologne. The scheme goes as planned otherwise: Kershaw makes calls, under duress, to provide fake explanations for his disappearance, gets his family to move out of state, and signs the documents that transfer his assets to Lugo. Oblivion is a 2013 post-apocalyptic science fiction film based on Joseph Kosinski’s unpublished graphic novel of the same name. The film was co-written, produced and directed by Kosinski.[6][7][8] It stars Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough, and Olga Kurylenko.[9][10] The film was released in the U.S. on April 19, 2013.[11] According to Kosinski, Oblivion pays homage to science fiction films of the 1970s.[12] The film received mixed reviews. The acting, visual effects, and originality were praised, while reception of the story was mixed. The film underperformed at the American box office, grossing only $89 million, but performed well overseas. The movie grossed more than $200 million worldwide. In 2077, Earth has been ravaged from war sixty years prior with an extraterrestrial attacker. The Moon was destroyed, causing earthquakes and tsunamis, while humans allegedly used nuclear weapons for a costly victory. Humanity is now said to be relocating to Saturn’s moon Titan via the “Tet”, a large tetrahedron-shaped space station. On Earth, Tech 49 Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) and his partner and lover Victoria “Vika” Olsen (Andrea Riseborough) are among the few humans left on Earth. Stationed at Tower 49 in former northeastern United States, they are instructed by mission controller Sally (Melissa Leo) to protect the gigantic offshore fusion energy generators that purportedly provide power to the colonists on Titan from Scav attacks (Scavs being a small force of marauding aliens who remained on Earth). The generators are protected by both Drones and Jack’s regular reconnaissance from his ship. Despite having had a memory wipe, Jack experiences visions of being on the observation deck of the Empire State Building before the war with an unknown woman. When not on patrol, Jack secretly spends time at a small lake-side house he has built. Jack detects a Scav beacon signal emitted from the Empire State Building that is sending coordinates on Earth. Perplexed, he terminates the signal, only to witness a pre-invasion spacecraft, the Odyssey, fall to the earlier specified coordinates. Investigating the wreckage, Jack finds several working stasis chambers, including one containing Julia (Olga Kurylenko), the woman from his visions, as well as a flight recorder. A drone then arrives on the crash site and starts shooting at the stasis chambers, killing the humans inside. Jack revives Julia and is surprised that she knows his name. The Scavs capture them, secure the recorder, and take them to their base at Raven Rock Mountain Complex. The Scavs are not aliens but human survivors, led by Malcolm Beech (Morgan Freeman). Beech wants Jack’s help to destroy the Tet by using unstable fuel cells they have collected and a captured drone. Fists of Legend is a 2013 South Korean sports drama film directed by Kang Woo-suk. It is based on the popular webtoon of the same title written by Lee Jong-gyu and illustrated by Lee Yoon-gyun. The film stars Hwang Jung-min, Yoo Jun-sang, Yoon Je-moon, Lee Yo-won, and Jung Woong-in. A moment of bad luck derailed Deok-kyu’s Olympic dreams and led him and his friends to jail. Jin-ho got out of jail quickly because of his rich parents, but Deok-kyu, Jae-seok, and Sang-hoon were not so lucky. Years later, while running a noodle shop to earn extra money following an accident involving his daughter, Deok-kyu accepts an invitation to join a televised mixed martial arts tournament, Fists of Legend. A group of middle-aged men who used to be called “legends” during their teenage high school days take part in the “real action fighting” reality show, and the winner gets a prize of ₩20 million every round, for a total of ₩200 million (US$183,823).
