Bless Me, Ultima 2013 Movie Storyline/Plot

Bless Me, Ultima is a 2013 film directed by Carl Franklin. It is an adaptation of the 1972 novel of the same name by Rudolfo Anaya. Variety reported on March 2, 2009[3] that Christy Walton, heiress to the Walton fortune, had set up Tenaja Productions company solely to finance a film adaptation of Bless Me, Ultima. Monkey Hill Films’ Sarah DiLeo is billed as producer with collaboration and support from Mark Johnson (producer) of Gran Via Productions (Rain Man, Chronicles of Narnia) and Jesse B. Franklin of Monarch Pictures. Carl Franklin (One False Move, Devil in a Blue Dress, Out of Time) was tapped as a writer and director. Walton and DiLeo shared a passion for the book, and the latter had succeeded in convincing Anaya to agree to the adaptation over six years back. Shooting was scheduled in the Abiquiú, New Mexico area, and then resumed in Santa Fe for some interiors at Garson Studios on the Santa Fe University of Art and Design campus during the last week in October 2010. Filming wrapped in Santa Fe, New Mexico in late 2010.[6] The film credits thank The College of Santa Fe, Ruby Ranch, The Pecos River Ranch, Santa Cruz Lake Recreational Area, and Abiquiu. Locations include Abiquiu, New Mexico, Rowe, New Mexico, Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. (Source: Wikipedia)

On February 13, 2014, it was announced that the film would be released on July 11, 2014, with Open Road Films distributing the film.[4] The concert movie was filmed at two shows on February 28, 2014, and March 1, in San Jose, California. Upon its release, The Fluffy Movie was met with generally mixed reviews. The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 54% approval rating with an average rating of 5.4/10 based on 13 reviews. On Metacritic, the film achieved an average score of 56 out of 100 based on 11 reviews, signifying "mixed or average reviews". Frank Scheck of The Hollywood Reporter gave a positive review of the film, remarking that Iglesias "delivers a solid set of often highly personal material that’s consistently amusing even if it never quite hits the level of hilarity". He further noted that Iglesias "is a likeable presence, and his fluid delivery, complete with spot-on accents and sound effects, is consistently engaging."[8] Conversely, Kyle Anderson of Entertainment Weekly gave the film a C and said, "While Iglesias is perfectly competent as a comedian, he lacks the ability to really wrap his arms around his own personal narrative."[9] Mark Jenkins of The Washington Post gave the film two-and-a-half stars, writing that the film's "principal weakness is that it’s not much of a movie". However, Jenkins went on to note that "The balance between the hilarious and the heartwarming is carefully maintained." (Source: Wikipedia)
